"I can highly recommend Bettina Gross. Through her empathic and sincere attitude, I always felt understood and accepted. Ms. Gross showed me many exercises that helped me, to relax better (e.g. when falling asleep) or to accept difficult feelings. She helped me through a very difficult time. I am very grateful for her help."

Gemeinsames Lernen / interaktive Erfahrung / wertvolle Begegnungen

01. What is emotion-focused therapy?
Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) is a scientifically based therapeutic approach for working with individuals, couples and families. Based on neuroscientific findings, EFT integrates elements from attachment theory, client-centered psychotherapy, gestalt therapy and systemic therapy.
The emotion-focused approach assumes that emotions are vital processes that help us cope with life. They enable us to listen to our needs. However, emotions can also block us and make life difficult for us. Sometimes we experience emotions as chaotic or we find them difficult to cope with, such as e.g. sadness, anger and hatred.
02. How can emotion-focused therapy help me?
EFT aims to help people become aware of their emotions and deal with stressful emotions in a way that is helpful.
Trust between clients and therapists is a central component. You'll learn to express, understand and regulate your feelings in a healthy way.
Clients decide which issues and emotions they would like to work on and discuss appropriate interventions with their therapists.
Emotion-focused therapy works with principles of emotional change. The goal is to transform dysfunctional emotional experience by using existing helpful emotions.
This can help you to:
03. What is person-centered psychotherapy?
Person-centered therapy is an approach used worldwide and goes back to the American psychologist Carl Rogers, co-founder of humanistic psychology.
The approach is scientifically based - Clients are seen as the experts in their lives!
Person-centered therapy is a talking therapy. The focus is on the trusting and validating relationship between the client and the therapist. Clients decide what they want to talk about and how deep they want to get into their topics. Therapists mirror and reflect on the process, always with positive regard for their clients.
04. How can person-centered therapy help?
The person-centered approach assumes an inherent potential in each person, which can unfold in appreciative and authentic encounters with other people.
Person-centered therapists work and live in an atmosphere of acceptance, appreciation, empathy and authenticity towards their clients. They encourage their clients and listen to them on an equal level.
This environment allows personal growth, in which clients can build more trust in themselves and others. This enables clients to recognise their own needs, which helps them to increasingly take better care of themselves.
Who benefits from person-centered therapy?
The majority of people benefit from this non-directive approach. The possibility of self-directed, anxiety-free work on individual solutions and strategies sets out an ideal environment to overcome blockages that prevent growth.
01. Emotion focused couples therapy (EFT)
Emotion focused couples therapy is a scientifically based short-term approach for short term counselling. EFT integrates systemic therapy, attachment theory and humanistic approaches.
The concept of emotion-focused couples therapy has been successfully established worldwide. It has been developed in the 80th by Dr. Sue Johnson and Leslie Greenberg and since then has been further developed through many scientific studies. It is based on the scientifically proven attachment theory. The main aspect of it is, that in love relationships, we need a secure attachment to our partner. We need closeness and security and are looking for a safe haven where we can fully be who we are.
02. We are emotionally dependent on each other
Especially in our individualistic society, it can be difficult to admit to ourselves how emotionally dependent we are on someone.
Good news is that research studies show, that a positive emotional attachment to our partner enables us to live self-confident. However, insecurities in our love relationship can also have a negative impact on our health and wellbeing.
03. The way out of the vicious cicle of conflict - creating awareness!
When we fear the loss of love, we pursue our partner's attention or we might retreat. However, both strategies - attack and withdrawal - lead to a vicious cicle that drives a couple further and further apart.
The first step to escape this negativ pattern is to be aware of it. Together we will work on both of your defense mechanisms. You will learn how to perceive your softer feelings and share them with your partner. This process enables you to learn a new way of interacting with each other and helps you also to feel and express your own needs.
04. How does couples therapy/counselling work?
01. What is coaching?
Coaching promotes your individual growth. Your concerns are always the focus of our attention. In coaching, I combine different counselling and therapeutic approaches and methods to achieve the change you desire in your life.
I work with you in an integrative way:
I use creative techniques and exercises that are even fun!
02. Emotion focused methods
Emotion-focused methods help among other things with conflicts in relationships. An important aspect of emotion-focused approach is self-care
Our inner self-critical, perfectionist or rebellious tendencies often prevent us from facing life with confidence and security. The emotion-focused approach enables you to better perceive and accept your unloved inner parts. By getting to know these parts of you better and growing in acceptance, these inner voices lose their power. This allows you to live more confidently and balanced.
03. How do I work with you in coaching?
In the coaching process we develop solution strategies together. Applying these strategies will help you achieve the desired change in your life.
I always work with your personal needs, which then become part of your solution process. We work together on an equal level, with your goals in mind. My values are positive regard for my clients and a non judgemental attitude. By using support techniques, such as mindfulness exercises, empty-chair excersise and focusing, you will get to know and understand your inner experience better.
Our focus in coaching is more future-oriented and in the here and now. However, there are experiences from the past, such as difficult relationships or circumstances from the past that might impact us in our daily lives. These issues also have their place in my coaching practice.
« I enjoy the therapeutic work very much, because I experience positive changes in my clients and see how inner healing processes begin and new hope arises. »
For over 11 years I lived with my family in Scotland, Glasgow. There I completed an in-depth training as a psychotherapist (MSc in Counselling & Psychotherapy) at Strathclyde University. My experiences abroad have given me a special sense for people of different cultures and nationalities. I have personally experienced the joy and the challenges of living in a different country. Therefore, I can relate well to people of other nationalities living in Germany.
In different care centers, a psychiatric clinic but also in my own practice I gained a lot of valuable experience with different clients. My areas of experience range from short-term coaching to long-term therapy of psychological disorders. In addition to clinical psychotherapy, I have worked in short-term counselling for employees (Employee Assistance Programs) as well as bereavement counselling and in christian counselling. In addition to my work as a therapist, I have also had the opportunity to gain experience as a supervisor working with other psychotherapists. In addition to my own practice, I have worked as a student counsellor at the University of Applied Sciences (HSPV) in Münster, Germany. There I provided psychosocial counselling for students and learning coaching. Also I have developed and conducted workshops on efficient learning, fear of exams, and avoiding procrastination.
« An important part of my therapeutic work is self-reflection and my own supervision. Supervision helps me to stay accountable for my professional actions. In addition, regular further training is important to me in order to continuously expand my skills. »

Processes that are more deeply rooted in the personality, which affect us on an emotional level sometimes require a deeper exploration. Psychotherapy would be a suitable treatment method for this.
Once we have started woking togehter in Coaching you also have the opportunity to continue working with me in a therapeutic way.
